Prerequisites for the use of these services are:
- provision of bank account details for crediting or transferring deposits within the SEPA area;
- issuance of a SEPA B2B direct debit mandate for the collection of fees and discrepancies; these are collected via the SEPA business to business direct debit scheme (B2B direct debit);
- participation in the Bundesbank’s Cash Electronic Data Interchange (CashEDI) procedure.
- The business relationship is established by submitting a fully completed customer data reporting form and receiving a BMS customer number issued by the Bundesbank’s customer data management team. Services cannot be used prior to receipt of a BMS customer number.
Detailed information on how you can become a business client for Bundesbank cash services:
-
BMS is the abbreviation for the Cash Management System (Bargeld-Management-System), which is our central system for the settlement of cash payments.
All data you have reported that are required for cash transactions are recorded under your BMS customer number. It serves the purpose of clear customer identification and must be provided for every transaction. The BMS customer number is, therefore, the prerequisite for being able to use cash services.
Learn how to apply for this number and become a business client by accessing the following link and then clicking on your customer group:
-
The global location number (GLN) is an identification standard for locations such as enterprises or ATMs. Applications for such numbers are made to GS1 Germany GmbH. In the CashEDI procedure, the GLN generally identifies the depositor, the payer in cash orders and the cash-in-transit company.

The abbreviation stands for collection of cash using the non-account-based procedure. The account recorded for the deposit is not held with the Bundesbank.
In the individual NiKo procedure, the funds of a single cash-in-transit company (CIT) customer are deposited and transferred in one sum. In the collective NiKo procedure, the deposited funds of multiple CIT customers are transferred in one sum and then directly forwarded to the account for inpayments recorded on the customer data reporting form.
-
Yes, participation is mandatory for business clients. CashEDI is used for the electronic notification of deposits to the Bundesbank and for ordering cash from us.

Changes to bank details can only be made by means of a change request with a fully filled-out reporting form, the original of which must be sent to us by post. A new copy of Annex 2 (Confirmation of bank account details and identification of the account holder) must also be filled out and signed by your account-carrying institution.
-
We check that customer data are up to date at regular intervals. This is a legal requirement. To this end, you are requested to review your customer data and update them where necessary, upon which you will receive confirmation from the Bank.
-
SEPA business-to-business (B2B) direct debit mandates generally expire after three years of non-use. This may be the case if, for example, no deposits or withdrawals have been booked using your customer number in the last three years and/or there have been no shortfalls in your deposits.
Should you wish to continue using our range of cash services, we require you to submit a new original signed copy of the SEPA B2B direct debit mandate form.

The coin deposits and orders made by cash management business partners are accepted in shrink-wrapped, single-denomination units of 10 coin rolls (for more on coin rolls, see the Guidelines for the packaging of coin rolls in film packs (“Richtlinie für die Fertigung von Münzrollen in Folienpackungen”)). Standard containers must be used for free-of-charge lodgements and withdrawals of coins.
