Fight against euro counterfeiting in North Macedonia and strengthening overall central banking business in Belarus are at the focus of the current twinning and twinning light projects.

One year ago, the new Centre for International Central Bank Dialogue was established. Synergies have been harnessed in the field of central bank cooperation by working hand in hand with the Bundesbank’s representatives around the world.

The second phase of the EU-funded project for the Western Balkans began in September with a kick-off event at the Banca d’Italia in Rome.

We are planning to hold 47 international central banking courses in 2023 – 26 in-person courses in Frankfurt and 21 online courses. Registrations are now open. The number of places is limited.

After a break of three years, the bilateral meeting, the 16th of its kind, took place with colleagues from the Bank of Korea in Frankfurt on 3 and 4 November 2022.

A large number of international central banking courses will be held online in the first half of 2021. The spectrum of topics is broad, ranging from monetary policy, good governance, statistics and cash management through to banking supervision and financial stability.

Marcus Haas has been responsible for providing technical expertise on the topic of “banking supervision” at the CIC since October 2019. The coronavirus pandemic has given rise to a multitude of questions in the financial sector, which are his task to field. EU Twinning light project “Strengthening the capacities of the system for fight against counterfeiting of EUR” in North Macedonia successfully completed.

The second joint EU-funded project for the NBRNM has begun. Analyses are under way in the area of banking regulation and supervision.

A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the Deutsche Bundesbank and the People’s Bank of China.

The certificate is self-signed with the SHA-256 algorithm and is valid for twelve years.

The branches of the Bundesbank supply the economy with euro banknotes and coins, and offers private customers the opportunity to exchange D-Mark banknotes and coins free-of-charge and with no fixed deadline.

The MFI interest rate statistics have been collected on a harmonised basis in the euro area since January 2003.They replaced the Bundesbank's interest rate statistics, which were discontinued at the end of the June 2003 reference month.

Once a year, the Bundesbank invites guests from the spheres of politics, academia and society to the Capital City Reception in Berlin to exchange views on the economic situation and current topics. This year's event saw Bundesbank President Joachim Nagel welcome IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and author Constanze Stelzenmüller as special guests.

This year, the Bundesbank’s autumn conference in Frankfurt am Main focused on the challenges facing financial markets, financial intermediaries and central banks. The conference, which was organised in cooperation with the Humboldt University of Berlin, hosted international guests and speakers from the Federal Reserve Bank, the European Central Bank, the Bank of England, King’s College London, Princeton and Bocconi University, among many more.
