Kick-off event for phase II of the EU project for the Western Balkans
The EU-funded “Programme for Strengthening the Central Bank Capacities in the Western Balkans with a view to the integration to the European System of Central Banks” started its second phase on 21 September 2022 with a kick-off event at the Banca d’Italia in Rome.
Under this programme, the Bundesbank, as project coordinator, is working together with 19 EU central banks, the European Central Bank and the European Commission to support central banks and supervisory authorities from the Western Balkans.
The programme runs for three years and aims to further strengthen the institutional capacities of the beneficiary institutions. Its focus is on improving analytical and policy instruments and applying established international and European standards. The EU is providing €3 million for this programme from its Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA III).
