Objective

Monika Spudic, member of the Basel Committee secretariat at the Bank for International Settlements, will present the revised Core Principles for Effective Banking Supervision with a focus on the latest changes in 2024. Participants of this online course will also have the opportunity to gain insights into the topic of implementation.

Lecturer

Monika Spudic is a Member of the Secretariat of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS), the primary global standard setter for the prudential regulation of banks. In this role, she currently supports the work of the Policy and Standards Group. She has also supported the Basel Core Principles Task Force in its most recent review of the Core Principles for effective banking supervision, as well as the BCBS work on financial technology, proportionality and supervisory cooperation.

Prior to joining the BCBS Secretariat, she was a policy advisor at the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) working mainly on banking regulation and macroprudential policy.

Monika received a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Business (Finance) from the University of Technology Sydney and a Master of Laws from the University of Sydney.

Target group

This online course is aimed at colleagues in central banks and supervisory authorities who are interested in understanding the content and implementation of the Basel Core Principles. It is especially useful for colleagues working in banking supervision or financial stability.
