The German government has decided to mint a €10 collectors' coin “In the Air” featuring a colourless polymer ring, to be issued on 4 April 2019. 

This coin is the first in a three-part series, “Air Moves” (2019-21, one to be issued each year), and is thus thematically linked to the €5 coins “Planet Earth” and “Climate zones of the Earth”, which were issued by the Federal Government and were very well received in the last two years.

The €10 coin “In the Air” consists of two different copper-nickel alloys and a translucent polymer ring. It weighs 9.7 g and is being produced both in mint condition and with a proof-like finish. 

Natalie Tekampe, an artist from the town of Müncheberg, Germany, designed the picture side of the coin. The reverse side, which will be identical on all the coins in this series, was designed by Berlin artist Andre Witting.

The picture side depicts a paraglider positioned in the centre of the image against a mountain landscape. The design of the reverse side goes well with that of the picture side. It features an eagle framed by the words “BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND”, the value and denomination, the year 2019, the twelve stars of Europe and the mint mark “A” (Berlin), “D” (Munich), “F” (Stuttgart), “G” (Karlsruhe) or “J” (Hamburg), depending on where the coin was minted.

The coin's smooth edge is embossed with the inscription:
“LUFT BEWEGT” (“Air Moves”).

The mint condition coins were brought into circulation at their face value (€10) by the Deutsche Bundesbank.
