The Deutsche Bundesbank hosted its fifth International Cash Conference virtually from 15 to 17 June 2021. The overarching topic for the conference was “Cash in times of turmoil”, focusing especially on the changing payment landscape and the future of cash.

Experts from academia, public authorities (including central banks), special interest groups and the private sector were invited to present their cash-related research papers. We were proud to announce Professor Viviana Zelizer, Fabio Panetta and Brett Scott as keynote speakers.

Nature of conference

The event was held virtually. The Cash Conference started on 15 June and continued with lectures and discussions on 16 and 17 June 2021, around 03:00 pm – 06:00 pm CEST.

The conference was held in English; all presentations were thus available in English only. Conference participation was free of charge.
