Research Assistant in the areas of banking and finance / monetary policy imple-mentation and transmission in Part-time (19,5 hours)
The main purpose of the research conducted in the Bundesbank is to develop and consolidate academic expertise in the fields of economics, banking and financial stability. This expertise is reflected in high-quality studies that are published in leading academic journals or as part of other analytical studies. Our research supports the Bundesbank’s decision-making processes and helps maintaining its reputation both in academic circles and amongst other political institutions. We are currently looking for staff in the research areas of “banking and finance” as well as “monetary policy implementation and transmission” for a period initially limited to two or three years.
Valuable work: your role with us
- Support the analytical and academic work of your colleagues in the Research Centre, in the area of either “banking and finance” or “monetary policy implementation and transmission”.
- Use your expertise to contribute to theoretical studies or empirical microeconometric analyses of leading international researchers.
- Contribute to the Bundesbank’s opinion-forming and decision-making process as part of an international team.
- Use access to excellent IT facilities and first-class data resources to perform scientific analyses.
- Assist management staff at the Research Centre with organising research and policy consulting.
Your qualifications
- Master’s degree or equivalent in a field relevant to the position (e.g. finance, economics, mathematics or statistics); ideally enrolled in or pursuing a PhD/doctorate programme in finance or economics
- Working towards a specialisation in banking and finance or microeconomic aspects of monetary policy transmission
- Strong knowledge of handling mathematical/statistical applications (e.g. MATLAB, R, Stata)
- Knowledge of additional programming languages (e.g. Julia, Python, Fortran, C, CUDA), experience with working with big data, and good knowledge of data services (e.g. Bloomberg, Datastream, Haver) would be an advantage
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills, ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and intercultural skills
- Sound communication skills in English
