“I can't imagine a better employer for disabled people” Direct entry – Inclusion at the Bundesbank
Hello, my name is Thomas, I’m 55 years old and have been at the Bundesbank since 1991. A real Bundesbanker through and through. Over all these years, I have followed not only the development of the Bank, but also my own personal path. Let me tell you how I came to my job at the Bundesbank and how the Bank promotes diversity and inclusion.
My current task is not only essential but varied. I take care of remuneration for civil servants and salaried employees. I ensure that salaries are paid on time and I prepare certificates for social security funds and employment agencies. My job offers many exciting challenges. New wage agreements, restructuring and changes in payroll accounting keep my daily work interesting. Contact with employees and the need to devote attention to individual concerns make my work particularly rewarding.
The Bundesbank not only took care to integrate me professionally, but also considered my personal circumstances. Since an off-the-job accident in 1994, I have relied on a wheelchair. The bank has given me understanding and support from the outset. Even in a building that was not yet wheelchair accessible, we found solutions to make my workplace accessible. Support from colleagues and managers has always been positive as well. I am asked if I need help and can get in touch with my colleagues if I am not getting any further. I have not had any negative experiences so far.
The Bundesbank has actively invested in designing an accessible working environment. Automatic doors and spacious offices are just a few examples of how the Bank ensures that all employees, regardless of their mobility, can work optimally. In my position as a representative for disabled persons, I can see that the Bundesbank takes diversity and inclusion seriously. The Bank responds to the needs of people with disabilities; it listens and seeks solutions with the representatives for disabled people.
For me, the Bundesbank is not just an employer, but a support structure and a community committed to diversity and inclusion. I cannot imagine a better employer. Go ahead and apply – you really are in good hands here.
