In 2017, the Bundesbank commissioned a comprehensive study on the history of central banking in Germany between the years 1924 and 1970. A team of academics led by renowned historians Professor Magnus Brechtken and Professor Albrecht Ritschl examined the Reichsbank’s history as the central bank during the National Socialist era. Their research also focused on continuities in terms of Reichsbank personnel after the central banks Bank deutscher Länder and Deutsche Bundesbank were established.

The findings were published in March of this year. At the Open Day, Historian Dr Ingo Loose will present in the short talk “Discussion on the Reichsbank study”. The talk will be held on Saturday at 15:45 and on Sunday at 15:30 in the central bank hall ( (Notenbanksaal). An exhibition in the historic central bank hall will also cover the history of the Deutsche Mark.
