Application documents and guide on completing the application form
Interested researchers are requested to submit
- a curriculum vitae with a list of research activities; and
- a fully completed application form, which can be found at the bottom of this page,
to the RDSC (fdsz-data@bundesbank.de).

Important information regarding seminar papers and theses for bachelor’s or master’s degrees
Our policy for bachelor’s theses and seminar papers:
- Unfortunately, access to data cannot be provided for bachelor’s theses or seminar papers.
Our policy for master’s theses:
- Your thesis supervisor will need to confirm to us that you require the requested data as part of your master’s thesis. An email from your supervisor to the RDSC will suffice for this purpose.
- When completing the application form, please enter “Master’s thesis” under “2.6 Availability of results”.
Special procedure for requesting PHF data
There is a separate application procedure for the use of Panel on Household Finances (PHF) data, information on which you can find at the link at the bottom of this page.
Encryption
When completing your application, please note the following: as the application form for research data contains personal information, we recommend that you send it to us as an encrypted email attachment. We likewise recommend that you encrypt all other documents containing personal information that you send to the Bundesbank.
We suggest that you use 7-Zip encryption software, which can be downloaded free of charge. Instructions on how to encrypt documents using 7-Zip software can be found below.
