The harmonised European revision policy envisages a so-called benchmark revision for 2024. This revision allows new information to be included over the entire period of the statistics. The focus here is particularly on the consistent implementation in the balance of payments, international investment position, financial accounts and national accounts. The 2024 benchmark revision will lead to revisions to the international investment position due to:

1. The inclusion of adjusted balance of payments data

2. The adoption of new data sources that particularly in the case of securities claims lead to higher holdings for the investment funds holding sector.

The revised international investment position data will be published on 30 September 2024.
