Urban house price growth in Germany decelerating

House prices in 127 German towns and cities were up in 2019 by 6% on the year. However, price growth has decelerated markedly compared with 2018. In that year, house prices in the towns and cities surveyed were up by as much as 8 ½%. This is the outcome of Bundesbank calculations based on data provided by bulwiengesa AG.

In the seven largest cities in Germany (Berlin, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg, Munich and Stuttgart), price growth decelerated particularly significantly. At 6 ½% in 2019, it was only marginally higher than the average of all towns and cities surveyed.
