In 2013, the eighth edition of the “Federal states” series pays tribute to the state of Baden-Württemberg. The 2013 set of €2 commemorative coins depicts Maulbronn Monastery, which is home to the most perfectly preserved medieval monastery complex north of the Alps. Founded in 1147, this complex has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993.
