Michael Best will head the Deutsche Bundesbank’s Communications Department from 1 October 2011. He will replace Dr Benedikt Fehr, who has been running the new Department for Economic Education, since August.

Best is currently head of financial markets reporting at the Hessischer Rundfunk in Frankfurt am Main and is responsible for the German television channel ARD’s financial markets editorial services. He is 54 and has studied economics.

In his new position, Best will be responsible for the Bundesbank’s external and internal communication and will report to President Dr Jens Weidmann.
