Global Money Week launch event on 27 March 2017 at the Money Museum in Frankfurt am Main

The Deutsche Bundesbank and Child & Youth Finance International (CYFI) today jointly launched this year’s Global Money Week (GMW) under the motto "Learn.Save.Earn."

"The theme of this year’s GMW gives us plenty of interesting reasons to think about money," said Bundesbank Executive Board member Andreas Dombret.

As part of Global Money Week, which runs from 27 March to 2 April 2017, the non-governmental organisation CYFI is holding a large number of events around the world to draw attention to the importance of financial education. The project is being supported by the G20’s Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Adequate access to financial services is one of the focal points of this year’s German G20 presidency.

At the launch event, two school classes discussed issues relating to managing money with Bundesbank Executive Board member Andreas Dombret, Managing Director of CYFI Wessel van Kampen, singer Fetsum Sebhat and television presenter Ralph Caspers.

An interactive show with Ralph Caspers and a visit to the Money Museum showcasing the basic principles of money provided the school pupils with special insights into money matters.
