The Deutsche Bundesbank’s Executive Board met the Council of the Bank of Latvia today in Frankfurt. The main topics of discussion were the economic situation in Latvia and Germany and upcoming reforms within the European Union. Bundesbank President Jens Weidmann emphasised that Latvia was an impressive example of how a country could achieve economic growth and fiscal consolidation through rigorous structural reforms. The Governor of the Bank of Latvia, Ilmars Rimsevics, commended the fruitful discussions and expressed his desire to continue the close working relationship between the two central banks.
