Bilateral cooperation FAQ
-
Interested staff members of foreign central banks (specialised staff members, executive staff and junior executive staff) may take part in bilateral training activities.
The participants are nominated by the partner central banks.
-
Using the form “Request for bilateral central bank cooperation with the Deutsche Bundesbank”, the foreign central bank is asked to describe a specific activity in which they are interested and send this to the Centre for International Central Bank Dialogue by e-mail. Please note that requests can only be considered if the unit responsible for international cooperation at the foreign central bank has been consulted.

If a visa is required, it must be applied for in time. This will be granted on the basis of an invitation by the Deutsche Bundesbank. The Bundesbank will inform the German embassy in the respective country of the intention to participate in the seminar in Germany.
-
Bilateral training activities generally last three days (Tuesday to Thursday) whether held in Germany or abroad. The programme usually begins at 9.00 and ends around 16.00; participants’ attendance is mandatory for the entire period.
Project advisory sessions usually last one to two weeks. In justified exceptional cases, an advisory session may be repeated or it may be extended.
-
The seminars are conducted by advisers from the Centre for International Central Bank Dialogue and/or experienced Bundesbank staff from the respective operational unit.
-
The seminars are held in English or German. If the partner central bank provides an interpreter, the seminar can be held in other languages as well.
-
For training sessions being held in Germany, the Bundesbank bears the costs of accommodation, local transport, a large part of meal costs and health insurance to cover emergencies. Travel costs must be paid for by the foreign central bank.
For advisory sessions that take place on-site, the Bundesbank covers the cost of the flight and, if necessary, any accommodation costs.
-
Participants attending events in Germany are insured by a group insurance policy for medical emergency (basic medical treatment).
-
For the duration of their stay in Germany, the participants generally stay at the Bundesbank's guest apartments.
The Bundesbank can provide the participants with accommodation only for the duration of the seminar, including the day of arrival and departure. Participants may not extend their stay.
-
Under no circumstances can the Bundesbank provide accommodation for family members or other accompanying persons. No exceptions can be made.
The invitation required to receive a visa is therefore issued only in the name of the participant.
-
If necessary, the Bundesbank will organise transportation from and to the airport.
