Sonja joined the team of CIC advisors in 2011 and has been heading the team since 2018. She is responsible for all international and bilateral training activities dealing with aspects of monetary policy. Her own teaching is focused on monetary policy implementation and monetary policy communication. She is experienced in TA project work, having worked both as technical expert and team leader in EU Twinning projects.

Prior to her current position at the CIC, she worked as an analyst in the Bundesbank’s Directorate General Financial Stability. She joined the Deutsche Bundesbank in 2007 after obtaining her Master’s degrees in economics and political science and following internships at the ECB, the German Finance Agency and the German Stock Exchange. Sonja holds a PhD in political science from the University of Frankfurt.
