Martin Dinkelborg
Martin Dinkelborg was appointed Director of Centre for Technical Central Bank Cooperation (CIC) in November 2013 after having been its Deputy Director for more than ten years. Since June 2016 he also chairs the ESCB IRC Task Force on Central Bank Cooperation. In his previous position he served as deputy head of the Human Resources Department in the Bundesbank’s regional office in Düsseldorf.

House prices in Germany fell significantly in 2023, according to the Bundesbank’s current Monthly Report. Residential properties were no longer affordable for many people owing to high inflation and increased interest rates. Demand for housing declined, increasingly shifting to the rental market,
and the already high inflation in rents saw a significant further acceleration,
the economists write. Overvaluations in the real estate market came down in 2023, but were not fully eliminated. The authors therefore believe that there is still a certain risk of price corrections. -

For 20 years now, euro banknotes and coins have been part of the everyday lives of people in Germany and the euro area. To mark the anniversary, the Bundesbank met both with interested members of the public and with expert audiences on various occasions in 2022. The programme culminated in an anniversary ceremony at the end of the year.
